About AAKN

ASEAN-Asia Knowledge Nexus

A collaborative international platform connecting universities, researchers, academic leaders and institutions across geographical and institutional boundaries.

What is AAKN?

The ASEAN-Asia Knowledge Nexus (AAKN) is a collaborative international platform bringing together universities, researchers, academic leaders and institutions committed to advancing higher education, research and knowledge exchange across geographical and institutional boundaries.

Initiated and convened by Siam University, Thailand, AAKN brings together five founding establishments to develop meaningful and sustainable academic and research collaboration. Its emphasis extends beyond the signing of institutional agreements to the creation of partnerships that produce identifiable educational, scholarly, institutional and societal benefits.

Why it matters

Higher education institutions are entering a period in which artificial intelligence, geopolitical realignment, increasingly complex research challenges, changing mobility patterns and growing expectations of institutional accountability are reshaping international collaboration.

Traditional partnership agreements alone are insufficient. Collaboration must now demonstrate its ability to create new knowledge, improve learning, strengthen institutional capabilities and sustain measurable outcomes.

AAKN seeks to address these challenges by connecting institutions with complementary capabilities and moving from partnership intentions to joint activities, research programmes and documented results.
